1957

Dowa Kaiun Co., Ltd. was established on March 25th at Room 205, Bldg. 6, Naka-12, 2-8 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
Capital: 10 million yen
Representative Director: Fumio Takigawa

1959

Increased capital to 15 million yen.
Moved head office to Sendai Kogyo Bldg. in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
The first new ship “Yuwa-Maru” was built by Taiyo Shipbuilding Corporation.
Signed an exclusive agency agreement in Japan with Taiwan Navigation Co., Ltd.

1961

Increased capital to 35 million yen.
Moved head office to Shin-Kyobashi Building, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
Started outbound cargo collection between Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore and local agency services.

1963

Received an order for a project for special port facilities at the Port of Jakarta in the Republic of Indonesia.
Increased capital to 50 million yen.

1964

Opened a representative office in Jakarta, the capital of the Republic of Indonesia.

1965

Capital increased to 100 million yen.

1966

Accepted the position of sub-agent for ASIA TRANS, the general agent for six liner shipping companies, and started outbound cargo collection agency services.

1967

Increased capital to 120 million yen.

1968

Joined the South Sea Lumber Transport Agreement.

1971

Participated in the joint development of the forest area of EKADESA KARYA, Malinau District, Tarakan, Sabah, Malaysia, with Sabah Forestry Company.
Increased capital to 168 million yen.

1972

Started cargo booking and operation agency services for the allied routes between Japan and Indonesia as a sole agent in Japan of ADOMIRAL LINE, a member of INL (INDONESIA NATIONAL LINE).

1974

Concluded an exclusive agency agreement with P.T SARUNTA WAYA RAYA LINE, P.T BHINEKA LINE, P.T ANDHIKA LINE, P.T RIMBA SEGARA LINE, and P.T INDO PACIFIC in Republic of Indonesia, to be a sole agent in Japan.

1975

Increased capital to 176.4 million yen.
A Lumber Transportation Agreement (LTA) was signed between INSA BOBPELSUS and the Japan South Sea Lumber Transport Association (NFA).

1976

Increased capital to 185.22 million yen.

1979

Dowa Kaiun Co., Ltd. became the surviving company and merged with Dowa Line Co., Ltd.
Company name changed to Dowa Line Co., Ltd.
Increased capital to 274.409 million yen.

1980

Established DOWA LINE U.S. Representative Office in the Tokudo Merchant Marine U.S. Office in New York.

1981

Established DOWA LINE AMERICA CO., LTD. in U.S. Opened an office on the 22nd floor of TWO WORLD TRADE CENTER in New York and began independent operations.

1985

Entered the small handy ship market.
Started transporting Australian wheat to the Food Agency.

1986

M/V MARIA FLORES (27,000DWT) started grain transportation for the Food Agency of Japan on consignment.

1987

Established BULK FLEET CHARTERING LLC. in U.S.

1989

Established BULK FLEET CHARTERING (U.K.) LTD in London, England.

1990

12,000dwt Bulk Carriers entered the Caribbean and Atlantic market.

1991

DOWA LINE AMERICA CO., LTD. purchased its own building in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and moved there.

1992

Closed BULK FLEET CHARTERING (U.K.) LTD.

1993

Completed construction of company's own building, THE DOWA LINE BUILDING, in Minato-ku, Tokyo.

1996

The new "BALSA" series were built by Sasebo Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. one after another and put into service in U.S.
Kazuo Takigawa took office as PRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER.

1998

Completed construction of 12,000dwt Bulk Carrier “ANTILLES” series and 16,000dwt Bulk Carrier “CENTURY” series and entered the market.

2001

DOWA LINE AMERICA CO.,LTD acquired ISO 9001-2000 certification.
20th Anniversary of DOWA LINE AMERICA CO.,LTD.
Held a commemorative celebration at Top of the World, on the top floor of World Trade Center, N.Y.

2006

Chairman Fumio Takigawa passed away.

2007

Constructed a dormitory for singles in Ichigayasadohara, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.
The 50th anniversary "Gathering of Gratitude" was held at Hotel Okura, with 500 guests in attendance.

2009

Due to the construction of the Loop Route 2 road in Tokyo, the former head office building was expropriated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
Construction of Dowa Line's new headquarters building was completed in Minato-ku, Tokyo.

2011

Donated 10 million yen to The Japanese Red Cross Society for the Great East Japan Earthquake.

2014

Started program to sent employee to The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile for Spanish Language training

2015

38,000 DWT Bulk Carrier "HARMONY" series completed construction and began operating.
Far East Marine Services LLC(FEM) opened in Houston, started providing ship's stores, inspection and repair services.

2016

Signed After-sales service contract with TECHCROSS INC. of South Korea for ballast water treatment system in North, Central and South America.
Completed construction of the DLX Building in Nishi-Shinbashi 1-chome.
Held a celebration for the completion of the new building at Anders, Toranomon Hills.

2017

FEM and Uzushio Electric Co., Ltd signed after-sales service agency contract in North America.
FEM was commissioned to provide after-sales service for JFE Engineering Corporation's ballast water treatment system in the North American region.
On 25 March, Dowa Line 60th anniversary party was held at Prince Hotel Hakone Ashinoko.
