As a shipping company, we have been contributing to society for more than 60 years under the company motto of taking on the challenge of 'Voyages on the Uncharted Waters'.
In order to develop this corporate motto further and aim for a sustainable society, we have established the SDGs Charter of Conduct, and have established a system that enables all employees to work together to contribute to a better society.
Our key social issues
As a company involved in the shipping and real estate industries, we take into account the impact of our business on society and address the following social issues with an emphasis on the "environment", "safety" and "people".
Environment
- - We prevent environmental pollution (air and sea pollution) through compliance with environmental regulations and our own measures.
- - We will improve the global environment through our company business of shipping and real estate.
Safety
- - We will conduct business activities that sustainably protect people and the environment by placing the highest priority on safety, which is a prerequisite for all social issues.
People
- - We support the stable livelihoods of all our employees and their families and create an environment in which they can engage in decent work.
- - We provide our employees and their families with educational opportunities to help them become self-reliant.
Process for setting SDGs activity goals
In order to ensure that all employees work together to deal with the SDGs, we have selected the social issues to be addressed through the following process.
SDGs
Sustainable Development Goals
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit held at UN Headquarters in New York in September 2015.
The SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 targets, including the pursuit of peace, the eradication of poverty, and the preservation of the global environment, and are a collection of common aspirations and guidelines for action for the international community to achieve in 2030.
The SDGs continue from their predecessor, the MDGs (Millennium Development Goals), which were established in 2000 to achieve a better world for all humankind.
